Today we will tackle a topic causing quite a stir in the A/C community: Do British people have air conditioning?
Americans are used to blasting our A/C on full blast during hot summer. It’s practically a national pastime! But across the pond in the UK, things are a bit different. For starters, they don’t have to deal with the sweltering heat waves we’re used to. The average high temperature in London during July is a cool 72°F. That’s practically autumn weather for us Texans!
But it’s not just the milder climate that makes A/C less common in the UK. There’s also the issue of building design. Many older buildings in the UK were built with thick stone walls that help insulate them from heat and cold. While this is great for keeping energy costs down, it can also make it harder to retrofit these buildings with modern A/C systems.
Of course, there are always exceptions to the rule. Wealthy Brits living in modern homes are just as likely to have A/C as their American counterparts. But for the average citizen, A/C is a luxury that they can do without.
So there you have it, folks. The truth about air conditioning in the UK! Many newer homes and commercial buildings have air conditioning installed, but many still need to. Additionally, more and more UK residents recognize the importance of indoor air quality. They are turning to air conditioning systems that include air filtration and purification features … just like us here in the States!
Now if you’ll excuse us, we’re off to crank up my A/C and enjoy a nice cold beverage because that’s what’s needed here in Frisco!! If you need any help with your own A/C needs, give us a call at Air Repair Pros. We’re always here to help.
