SEER2 is more stringent, increasing the qualifications a system needs to qualify as, for example, the minimum required 14 SEER.

If you have energy-saving heating and cooling equipment or ENERGY-STAR-qualified doors, windows, and insulation installed, you may be eligible for a tax credit of up to $1,200. And in fact, those in lower-income to average households can save up to $8,000 on a heat pump installation!
This is good news for those looking for home energy efficiency improvements. And, it’s a great way to offset the potential price hikes we may see in the coming years.
